_DSC4189Happy New Year! Well, almost. It's New Year's Eve— a magical night that never turns out quite how you expect, so you may as well end the year in style! I'm the first to admit that New Year's Eve is much more magical in my head than it ever turns out to be in reality, but nonetheless, I'm determined to ring in the new year looking my best. It's the only night that it's acceptable to wear excessive amounts of glitter, kiss a stranger and fully enjoy the vice that you're committed to give up when the clock strikes midnight.

I'm not usually one to make a big New Year's resolution but I thought I would give it a shot this year. My New Year's resolution is to stop relying on others for happiness. This year has been a rollercoaster and I've learned a lot about myself. I've learned I can't find my happiness in a man. I won't find my happiness in that pair of boots I convinced myself I had to have. I can't find my happiness in a gin and tonic in a crowded bar. My happiness can't be determined by the amount of likes I receive. I can't find happiness in losing a few more pounds.

Yes, all of these things can make me happy for a moment. Hearing a man say I love you makes me happy, feeling confident in my new boots makes me happy or sharing laughs with friends over a drink makes me happy, but none of these things results in my true happiness. The man may grow tired of me, the boots will lose their luster and the hangover will always come in the morning. The only place I can find my true happiness is through God and myself. You have to take what this world gives you and choose how you will determine your happiness, so cheers to 2016! Let's do this thing!

Shout out to my beautiful sister for braving the cold and having a little fun for our NYE shoot.
