If you're anything like me, by the time one season ends and another begins I'm totally over everything in my closet, but before you spend a fortune on a new wardrobe there are a few things you can do.  A closet refresh every so often is a great idea, I usually do it between seasons. Here are 5 easy steps to refresh your closet.

Step One: Take Inventory

Clean our your drawers, shelves, under the bed, everything. It may seem like a daunting task but you can find a great item that you completely forgot you had. This will allow you see everything you own.

Step Two: Organize

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Once you have everything out, start organizing by what needs to be hung up and what needs to be folded. From there, separate tops, bottoms, dresses, etc. I also try to organize them by color and length but to be honest that doesn't always last long!

Step Three: Minimize

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

After going through what you have, it's time to minimize. I donate or sell anything I haven't worn in a year. Also, there is no need to hang on to that t-shirt that is now more off-white than white. Get rid of anything that has holes or looks visibly worn out. Cut back—If you had 2 black blazers, pick your favorite.

Step Four: Mix and Match

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Once you've cleaned out, take look at your favorite pieces and see if you can style them in a way you haven't tried before. It's easy to always wear your favorite pieces the same way, but can that chambray off-the-shoulder top be worn with a denim skirt instead of your trusty skinny jeans? Give it a try and you may find totally new ways to mix and match the clothes in your closet.

Step Five: Fill in the Holes

Now it's time for the fun part. Make a list of things that are missing from your wardrobe. Pick a few trends for the upcoming season that you want to use to update your closet. For spring, I purchased a pair of white adidas sneakers, a denim skirt and a suede jacket. What's on your spring wish list?
