How to Get Active and Stay Active

The other day on my Instagram story I was talking about my workout goals and also about how to get back into fitness if you may have fallen off the wagon. We were having some great conversations and I wanted to keep it going so I thought I’d share a few tips on how to get back into a regular workout routine.


1. Think about working out as something you GET to do, not something you HAVE to do.

I have been active all of my life, I grew up playing volleyball and tennis and was also on the swim team so fitness has always been a big part of my routine but I know this is not the case for a lot of women. If you have never had a regular workout routine, fitness can be intimidating.
I think the number one thing you have to do is to stop thinking about working out as a chore or something that you are going to dread doing. Being active is such a gift! The fact that we can move and push our bodies is amazing! I know you may not love doing all of those squats while your buns are on fire but I promise you are going to feel SO GOOD after!


2. Set Weekly Goals for Yourself

I like to set weekly workout goals for myself. My schedule is so sporadic that sometimes, the next thing I know it's Thursday and I haven't worked out at all! Last week I had a goal to get in five workouts, I only got in four but that's okay! I acknowledge that I missed the mark and set my intentions for the next week. One of my weekly workouts is taking Angus on a new hike. Each week we scope out a new hiking trail and usually hit up a cute coffee shop after. I have been wearing these HOKA ONE ONE sneakers from Zappos and it seriously feels like I'm walking on clouds! They are amazing and I highly recommend if you do a lot of walking or running.


3. Don't be afraid to try something New

Get ready to try a bunch of different workouts until you find something that you really enjoy! I don't love running so that's not how I get my cardio, you don't have to force yourself to do an activity you hate.
