Raise your hand if you spend most of your day at your computer and if not your computer, your phone. I bet most of you raised your hand. If I had to guess, I probably spend about 12 hours a day looking at my computer or phone. It’s actually pretty crazy when you start thinking about it! With all of that time spent staring at a screen, it can result in digital eye strain.
What is digital eye strain?
Extended screen time is inevitable in our digital world. Coastal is now offering their specialized KODAK BlueReflect Lenses to help protect your eyes form Digital Eye Burn and Digital Eye Strain caused by High Energy Visible (HEV) blue light that is emitted from digital devices. Blurred vision, dry eyes, and headaches are all symptoms of digital eye burn. I am constantly blinking and using eye drops when I’m spending lots of time on my computer.
How do they work?
“KODAK BlueReflect™ Lenses use a special coating to reflect a portion of the blue light emitted by digital devices and artificial light. This coating also incorporates scratch resistant and anti-glare benefits, giving you clearer vision while using digital devices.
A blue sheen and a minimal yellow hue on the lens are the proof of the lenses actively filtering part of the blue light.”
What did I think?
I got the Joseph Marc Theorem-49 frames that are a rounder shape. They are are a metal frame and more light-weight than my other classes. I tested these glasses out for a couple weeks and wore them while working at my desk for 8+ hours a day. Overall, I enjoyed the frames and lenses. I did think they helped with my dry eyes (but then again I wasn’t wearing my contacts). That was the only symptom I experience of Digital Eye Burn. The only thing I don’t love about the glasses is that you are able to see a blue glare on the lenses. I would only use them while working at my computer not necessarily as a fashion statement so it’s not a huge deal. If you spend a lot of time on your computer I would highly suggest checking these out. They also have TONS of frame options available to fit your personal style.
